“AIMING YOUR HEADLIGHTS”

Ever been cruisin around at night, and one headlight is going up and the another one is aimed at the vehicle comin at ya? Well, I’m going to show you how to aim your headlights, so you’ll be able to see what’s in your further.

First of all, you have to park your Volkswagen on a flat surface and about twenty-five feet from a wall or your garage door. Be sure your tires are properly inflated. Somewhere in the area of a half tank of gas. The vehicle must be square with the wall (90 degrees).  Remove the beauty ring on the newer style. On 1966 and before you just have to locate the adjuster screws on the beauty ring.

Find the center of both headlights, and mark with tape. Measure from the ground to the center of the headlight and mark a horizontal line with tape, on the wall. Finally at the point, where the vertical and horizontal line intersect, place two more vertical lines two inches to the right of the current vertical line.             

With someone in the driver’s seat during the adjustment of the lights, they will see the intersection of the new lines and the horizontal line will be at the top left corner of the headlights high intensity pattern.

Using the adjustment screws, top screw will move the bulb up and down, the left screw will adjust the bulb side to side. This should allow you to adjust your low beams exactly where you want. F.Y.I. (there is no need to independently adjust the high beam)

Alignment of your headlights can make the different between day and night. Aim for the further.  (o!/o)
